Kathleen Mary Kemnetz was born on November 14,1945, in Chicago, IL, the 7th of 12 children born to James Phillip and Elizabeth Florence (nee Staunton) Kennedy. She died on March 18, 2023 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Kathy was a Customer Service Representative and Trainer for JCPenney for 14+ years. After her retirement, she enjoyed monthly luncheons with former co-workers for many years.
She was a member of St. Edna Parish where she was a Baptismal Vest Designer as well as serving as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister.
Her interests and hobbies included sewing and cooking. She and her husband were long-time season ticket holders for Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre and loved seeing musicals with friends. Kathy’s greatest joy was being a mom and then a “Grammi”. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up, as well as spending time doing puzzles and playing games with family.
Kathy is survived by her spouse of almost 55 years Ernest “Ernie” Francis Kemnetz; her children Christine Ellen (Michael) Kemnetz Wall, Ernest James (Heather) Kemnetz and Susan Mary (James) Kemnetz LaDeur; her grandchildren Rebecka Joy Wall, Zackary Michael Wall, Alexander James “A.J.” LaDeur, Genevieve Joyce LaDeur and Matthew Ernest LaDeur; her siblings Patricia Alice (late Arthur) Vernino, Robert Joseph (Marsha) Kennedy, Henry Francis (Janet) Kennedy, Mary Helen (James) Haas, Romana Rosemarie (David) Cole, Eileen Terese Kennedy and Kevin Peter (Beverly) Kennedy; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her son Matthew Patrick Kemnetz, her grandson William Pax LaDeur, her parents as well as her siblings James Phillip (late Fortunata) Kennedy, John Staunton (Mary Ann) Kennedy, Elizabeth Florence LaGrua and Thomas Michael Kennedy.
Visitation Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 9:00am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Private interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Catholic Charities.
