He died February 23, 2017 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.Retired as a Tool and Die Maker. Owner of Collins Mfg. in Niles." Member of VFW Post 981 since 1972 where served as Post Commander.Leo is survived by his daughters Debra Lynn (Gary) Gorson and Babette Marie (Jeff) Butler; his grandchildren Justin, Brandon, Ashley, Brent, Kirsten and Brian and by his great granddaughter Eve.Leo is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann (nee Lynest) Larson and by his parents John Augusta (Bertilsson) Larson.A graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago, Leo became an early resident of Rolling Meadows in 1954, then moved to Arlington Heights in 1962, and then to Kildeer in1987.Leo and his family enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states (mostly camping) and several countries.Leo served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was able to go on the Freedom Flight with his grandson to visit the Korean War Memorial in Washington DC.The family would like to thank the entire staff at JourneyCare Hospice for their kindness and exceptional care.Funeral and interment services will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IllinoisMemorial Contributions may be given to Wounder Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
