Lois M. Young was born on August 13, 1931, in Chicago, IL to Benjamin and Veronica (nee Smith) Stefani. She passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, peacefully at home with her family.
Lois was an employee with Walgreens for over 50 years at the same store in Chicago. During her time with Walgreens, she worked as a waitress and store clerk/inventory clerk. She was honored for her excellent service and awarded “Cashier of the Year” in 1995. She also was awarded a recognition resolution from the City Council of the City of Chicago, in 2004, for her outstanding service and generous community spirit.
Lois was the strength and rock of her family. She gave her unconditional love and support to all her family, relatives and friends. She was so kind hearted and generous. She had an uplifting, beautiful spirit and always a smile on her face. She had the best sleepovers with her grandchildren, made the greatest vanilla malts and chocolate chip cookies. The family dogs loved her for all the treats she gave them.
Lois is survived by her children Richard D. (Julie) Young, Jr. Ret CPD, Robert A. (Migdalia) Young Ret. CPD, Daniel B. Young, Ronald P. (Kelly) Young, Lorrie V. (Louis) Rossi, and Cathlene R. (Scott) Bertucci; her grandchildren, Richard III (Maria), Steven and Caroline Young, Francisco (Ariana), William (Sonia) and Cynthia Gonzalez, Nicholas and Ryan Young, Santino Rossi, Samantha, Nicole, and Daniella Bertucci; her brother, Benjamin (Nancy) Stefani; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dominic Young; her parents, and her siblings Marie Nering and Frank Stefani.
Visitation Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois from 9:00 am until time of prayers at 11:15 am. Proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, Illinois for Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm. Burial following at Maryhill Cemetery.
