Loren Scheel

Of Arlington Heights

Loren Scheel, 80, was born in Chicago to Henry and Evelyn Scheel. He died in Arlington Heights surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Scheel served in the United States Navy stationed at the Glenview Naval Air Station. He worked for Campbell Soup Co. and Federal Signal/ Western Cullen in Chicago. Later after receiving his MBA, he joined the family business (Service Tool International in Elk Grove Village) for over 30 years, which he eventually owned and operated. Loren's priority was spending time with his family. He also loved to golf, enjoyed boating, fishing, and reading. One of Loren's favorite pastimes was woodworking and spending time in his workshop building model boats. He was a true handyman and took pride in fixing things himself. Loren was also a talented musician and played the piano by ear and was self-taught on the guitar. He loved traveling the world with his family. Loren was a respectful gentleman, devoted to his family and friends, and was lovingly called "Oompa" by his grandchildren. He was loved by all.

Loren is survived by his wife of 55 years to Lenore; children, Kristen, Melanie (Jaime); grandchildren, Adriana and Cristian; sister Linda (Robert); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation Friday, May 6, 2022, from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dr. Lucy Godley's leukemia research lab at the University of Chicago which will receive 100% of each donation. Checks can be made payable to "University of Chicago Lucy Godley Research Lab".
