Lorraine Louise Messenger

Lorraine Louise Messenger was born on January 24,1924 in Des Plaines, IL to Hans Christian and Laura F. (nee Lanckhoff) Brogmus. She died on May 15, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights surrounded by her loving family.

Lorrie (as she was called at Jeanine’s) was a Retail Sales Manager at Jeanine’s.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. She belonged to the Stitchers group and played Canasta with a group of ladies.

Prior to joining St. John, Lorraine belonged to the Prospect Heights Community Church (UCC). There she worked on the yearly rummage sale,

was a member of the Stitchers group, donated PADS meals, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Her interests included completing the crossword puzzles found in the Daily Herald. She also volunteered for years at the Prospect Heights Public Library. She was also a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters Kathleen J. (Ron) Reese and Susan L. (Doug) Stahnke; her grandchildren Linda (Chris) Stepp, Kimberly (Mike) Reese Lindberg and Michael (Jaime) Stahnke; her great-grandchildren Emilie Lindberg, Annika Lindberg, Ellie Lindberg, Laura Stepp and Lily Stepp and Duncan Stahnke; as well as her brother Russell (late Carol) Brogmus; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Leroy Messenger, her parents as well as her siblings Doris Campagna, Eleanor Minnich and Kenneth (late Doris) Brogmus.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00am at St. John United Church of Christ, 308 N. Evergreen, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
