It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lourdes G. Ablang, 93, of Buffalo Grove, IL, who left this world peacefully on November 22, 2025, surrounded by the family whose lives she shaped with her strength, love, and sacrifice. She was born on February 11, 1932, the cherished daughter of Gregoria and Vincente Garcia.
Lourdes lived a life defined by devotion to her family. Born in the Philippines, she carried her courage and resilience across oceans to create a future filled with opportunities for her children and the generations that followed. Everything her family has today—from their achievements to their sense of unity—exists because of the sacrifices she made quietly, faithfully, and without ever asking for anything in return.
To her loved ones, Lourdes was the heart and soul of the family. Her home was a place of warmth, where the aroma of her cooking—especially her beloved egg rolls—drew everyone together. She cared for her grandchildren with unwavering love so her children could work, grow, and build the beautiful family that stands today. Her hands comforted, her presence soothed, and her love anchored every gathering, big or small.
Her legacy lives on in her children, Victoria (Jose) Cabalfin, Gracie (Rene) Marzan, Toti, Eling (Gladys), and Cesar Jr. (Amy).
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kristine Cabalfin; Grace-Victoria “Gyvie” (Chris) Macalaguin and their children, Zara and Zaiden; Justin and Eric Ablang; Ashley and her daughter, Isabel; Patrick and his sons, Simon Angelo and Cesar Emanuel; and Mark and his children, Max and Razaele.
Lourdes is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Cesar Ablang, and with the family members who have gone before her. We take comfort in knowing she is home once more—safe, loved, and finally able to rest.
Above all, Lourdes treasured her family. Her joy came from seeing everyone together—laughing, eating, celebrating, and supporting one another, just as she always supported them. She was the quiet strength behind every accomplishment, the comforting presence in every difficult moment, and the guiding light that shaped each of our lives. Her love was constant, unconditional, and unforgettable.
Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A service celebrating her life will begin at 4:00 PM, also at Glueckert Funeral Home. Interment will follow at a later date.
Lourdes was a loving mother, a devoted Lola, and a remarkable woman whose kindness, sacrifice, and strength will forever live in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Though our grief is heavy, her memory remains a source of comfort and love—a reminder of the beautiful, generous life she lived and the family she built with her whole heart.
