Lucia A. Seranko was born April 5, 1941, to Stanley and Anna (nee Skoczylas) Draganski. On October 9, 2022, the day after celebrating her 56th wedding anniversary, she died suddenly and unexpectedly with family in Arlington Heights, IL.
Lucia met the love of her life, Bill, when they were both in a bowling league while she was pursuing her Accounting Degree at DePaul University. She had an active accounting career from 1961-2022, most recently with Wiseway Insurance, in Waukegan, IL. Lucia was a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and a former Convention Chairwoman (2010) and delegate to many quadrenial conventions. Community Service was very important to Lucia, evidenced by her time as an Early Voting and Election Day Judge for almost 20 years. She loved to be active, whether it was dancing (polka and waltz were her favorite!), snow skiing (even this past winter!), and many other outdoor activities. In addition to all of these things, she was the most loving, beautiful, and supportive Mom to Anita & Peter. The family always loved road trips together and have many fond memories and pictures! This continued on, as she and Bill loved driving trips through the mountains on the way to spend time with family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing with them in their element, whether it be on the floor, around the table with games, or her favorite, at the park on the swings; a true kid at heart! She never met a stranger. She was always smiling, caring for others, and sharing a wise and kind word. She had a faithful devotion to “The Divine Mercy” and reciting the Chaplet. Lucia knew that the path to eternal life was all about Jesus. She started each day, together with Bill, a truly optimistic outlook on life as a gift from God, and a thankful prayer:
Thank you, Dear Lord for this new day, help us in all we do, think, and say.
Lucia is survived by her husband of 56 years, William P. Seranko whom she married October 8, 1966, at St. Luke Catholic Church in River Forest, IL; children, Anita (Fred) Von Canon and Peter (Kate) Seranko; grandchildren, Anthony (Arlette) Von Canon, Stanton (Jessie) Von Canon, Lesley Von Canon, Maggie Von Canon, Morgan Von Canon, and Mary Frances Seranko; great-grandchildren, Jixelle Von Canon, Alex Siscoe, Livia Siscoe, Jordan Siscoe, Ryan Von Canon, Maximo Von Canon and Elijah Von Canon.
Lucia is now joyfully reunited with her parents and sister, Mary Stachnik who preceded her in death.
