Margaret “Peggy” Ruth Everding, 89, went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2025. Born in 1935 in Chad, Africa, to pioneer missionaries William and Margaret Rogers, Peggy lived a life marked by faith, love, and care for others. She was joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Paul; her parents; brother, John; and sisters, Mary and Lilly. She is survived by her three children, Mark (Carmen) Everding, Joyce (Mike) Moffitt, and Bruce (Julie) Everding; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, with one more expected; as well as her sister, Betty (Dick) Sanders; brother, Bill (Cheri) Rogers; and sister, Jean (Dave) Wunsch.
In 1950, Peggy left the remote villages of Chad for Chicago, where she attended Taft High School and met the love of her life, Paul, at a Christian Club. Married in 1955, Peg and Paul raised their family in Prospect Heights and Lincolnshire, creating a warm and welcoming home. Peggy’s deep love for her family inspired her to believe in their potential, fostering their growth with unwavering support. Her faith in the Lord as seen through her compassion, making her a “second mom” or “big sister” to family, neighbors, and church friends. Whether hosting a lively barbecue or adding another chair to the kitchen table, Peg and Paul’s door was always open.
Peggy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday August 16, 2025 at the Orchard Barrington Church, 1301 S Grove Ave, Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, service at 10:30am followed by a luncheon. Burial will be at 1:30pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington heights.
