Marilyn Gene Mulvey

Marilyn Mulvey, age 82, of Wheeling, IL was surrounded by her children when she passed away peacefully on the evening of April 11, 2025. Marilyn was born February 26, 1943 in Chicago to the late Walter and Mildred (nee Brutovsky) Wojton. She was a devoted and caring wife of 56 years to the late Charles, a loving mother to Charles Jr., Julie, and Marc (Michelle), and Grandma to Matthew and Michael.

She grew up on the north side of Chicago and graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School, where she began her nursing career. She was a resident of the Northwest Chicago suburbs for 60 years and worked as a nurse at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. During retirement, she watched her grandkids for several years and was very passionate in attending all of their school and sporting events.

Marilyn was always very involved in her family and loved experiencing new things. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, going to the theater, and gardening.

Her greatest involvement and passion were with her family. She enjoyed time supporting her children and grandchildren in their pursuits and going on family vacations. She always was involved in preparing for and attending family gatherings. Her famous taco dip was always a favorite! She was a frequent fan at the many sports events her grandchildren played in. She even coined some new phrases at all the baseball games she attended. Players didn’t just swing at the ball, they “struck” at it. A strike wasn’t just a strike, it was a “strikeball”!

Her love and the way she approached her life was a great example to all who knew her. Her devotion to family and Catholic values were extraordinary. We thank you for being a great part of our lives and being a great positive influence.

A visitation for Marilyn will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. We will be meeting at church on Friday, April 25, 2025 to continue the visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The funeral mass will follow at church starting at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
