Mary Arelyn Cagney

Beloved wife of James A. Cagney; loving mother of Joseph Philip (Judy), Colleen (Mark) Shapleigh, Timothy (Yvonne), James and Dennis; dear grandmother of Megan (Ryan) Maddalo, Brian (Jenna) Shapleigh, Molly Shapleigh Hillery and Daniel (Ali) Shapleigh, Allison, Kevin and Kelly Cagney and 4 wonderful great grandchildren; she was the daughter of Keith and Dolly (Heckenkamp) Bartlett, sister to the late J. Dean, the late Susan Oline, Carole Steele and beloved by many niece and nephews.

Arelyn graduated from Immaculata HS and received a BA degree, with honors, from Mundelein College; she was a primary grade teacher in Lincolnwood and Rosemont; she loved to swim, ride horses and play the piano; she was an avid duplicate bridge player and reader of mystery stories; she was active in the girl scouts and liked to sew; she was a beautiful, loving wife and mother.

A visitation will be held from 3:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers will take place on Thursday morning at 10:15AM at the funeral home, proceeding to St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd. Prospect Heights, IL 60070 for a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
