Matthew Gerlach

Of Arlington Heights

Matthew Gerlach was born November 16, 1990 to William and Simone (nee Savaglio) Gerlach. He was the first child and grandchild of his loving family. He died December 3, 2021 at his home in Arlington Heights.

Matthew spent his childhood boating, playing sports, and sharing his infectious laugh with anyone who was near. He enjoyed working as a landscaper and most recently as a service technician. His passion for the outdoors was fulfilled by camping, hiking, and anything that would bring him closer to the wonders of nature. Matthew was a strong, free spirited, kind person. He always had a zest for life. He had a good sense of humor and a desire for adventure. He was both the most simple and most complicated man.

Matthew is survived by his parents; his sister Melanie (nee Gerlach) Foley; his grandmothers Lottie Gerlach and Beverly Savaglio; and Lily.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 10:00 AM.
