Michael P. Wenzel

Michael P. Wenzel, 56, of Winona, MN, formerly of Arlington Heights, passed away Saturday May 28, 2011 at Winona Hospital in Winona, MN. After a year long courageous battle with oral cancer, he died peacefully with family and close friends at his side. Michael was the loving son of Patricia and the late Peter Wenzel; dear brother of Gary (Victoria), Greg (Lynn), Tom (Karen), David (Ruth), Carol (Jeff) Martini and John (Margie); fond uncle of 18 nieces and nephews and great-uncle of two. In addition to his family, Michael will be greatly missed by many friends whose dedicated friendship helped him through this difficult year. Michael was a 1973 graduate of St. Viator High School and a 1977 graduate of St. Mary University in Winona, MN. Memorial visitation will be Monday June 6, 2011 from 4-8PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 9:15 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 450 S. Mitchell Street, Arlington Heights for memorial mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private. A memorial celebration of his life will also be held in Winona, MN on Saturday, June 11. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mayo Clinic (www.mayoclinic.org) or American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) would be appreciated.
