

Nannette T. ("Nan") Meyer was born June 6, 1956 in Camp Pendleton, CA to Douglas and Patricia (nee Elwood) Talbot." She left us unexpectedly April 28, 2016 in New York, NY while on business.Nan worked for many years for the Markel Corporation, most recently as a Managing Director, Excess Liability/Life Sciences for Markel Global Insurance. She worked in the insurance industry as both an underwriter and broker for more than 35 years. She was a frequent speaker at industry seminars, authored articles and was interviewed regularly about product liability and life science insurance issues.In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Nan was an avid equestrian, skier and scuba diver." She was a member of the Illinois Hunter Jumper Association and the United States Equestrian Federation, competing successfully in hunter competitions in Illinois and other states. In recent years, Nan had become a member of the Fox River Valley Hunt, a group that exercises hounds while riding horses in simulated reenactments of historic hunts.Nan had been a member of the Wilmot Ski Patrol at the Wilmot Ski Resort since 1984, serving as the Patrol Representative for two separate terms in 1990-1992 and 2009-2011. She also served as a member of the Patrol"s Board, as slope leader, and as an Outdoor Emergency Care instructor. Nan received many awards and commendations, including Patroller of the Year in 2010-2011. Nan was also active for many years in the Southern Region of the National Ski Patrol. She was awarded National Number 9198 by the National Ski Patrol in 2000.Nan is survived by her husband Peter Meyer; her daughter Sarah Meyer; her granddaughter Abrianna, her brothers Thomas (Kimberly) Talbot, Joseph Talbot, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Nan is preceded in death by her siblings James Talbot and Jacqueline (Thomas) Levitch; her step father Raymond McWeeny and by her parents.Memorial visitation Monday May 9, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N.
