Norman Paul "Red" Mabus was born on March 3, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles, and Chelsea (Roberts) Mabus. He passed away surrounded by loves ones on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in his family’s home of over fifty years.
Norman, often called Red, for his red hair, worked as an electrician for over 60 years for Robert Stage Electric and was a proud 60 year member of both international brotherhood of electrical workers (IBEW), Local 134 and Moose Lodge 660.
Norman was preceded in death by his children, Nora Mae Humes - Stankiewicz, Joseph Clyde Mabus, Raymond Roy and his brother Clyde Levi Mabus.
Norman is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Theresa Mae (Spina); their children and their spouses, Theresa Marie & John Koelle, Mari & Neil Mabus-Berkowitz and Walter “Pinky” Shefka and his Sister Carol Allison.
His grandchildren and their spouses, Linda & John Murbach, Charles & Aubrey Humes, Vanessa Mabus, Elaine & Colin Lawther, Joe & Jean Mabus, Katie & Tom Shawke, Mark and Farah Koelle, David Koelle, Matthew & Katie Berkowitz, Faith & Chad Pletcher, Neil "Butch" & Serene Berkowitz, Anthony & Stefanie Berkowitz, Gina & Justin Morris, Jennifer Roy, Joseph Roy, Jason & Amy Lorek, Angie O'Neil, and Lisa & Dima Khomutova.
His great grandchildren Brian and Catherine Murbach; Ellie, Heidi and Wyatt Epp; Agnes Mabus and soon Baby Boy Mabus; Jake, Autumn and Brody Leitza; Emily, Dylan and Collin Berkowitz; Cole, Kennedy and Kylah Pletcher; Brenna, Gibson, Beau and Gianna Berkowitz; Ashur and Adelina Berkowitz; Teresa, Audrey and Joseph Morris; Richie and Marilee Lorek; Daniella and Jake Khomutova; Ginny O’neil.
His memory is proudly carried on through his namesakes; Matthew Norman Berkowitz, Cole Norman Pletcher, Joseph Mabus and his legacy great grandchild soon to be baby boy Mabus.
Visitation is from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, May 7, 2018 and from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment All Saints, Des Plaines, Illinois.
