

Son of Irish immigrants, Pat was born on March 18, 1935 in Chicago, IL. He attended local schools including Loyola University where he met the love of his life, Ginny. He earned a Master's Degree from Northwestern University; he was a dedicated educator in the Chicago City Colleges for 40 years. He was an avid reader and gardener, and life-long Cubs fan. He enjoyed music, movies, and spending time with his family and entertaining them with his bad-dad jokes. One would often find him riding his bike to Wilbur Wright Community College where he inspired thousands. He was instrumental in the development of the new Wright College campus in the early 90s.
Pat and Ginny were happily married for 61 years and are the proud parents of 8 children: Amy (Tom) Hornick, Brian (Bernadette), Terry (Mary), Colleen (Lou) Mueller, Kep, Patti (Chris) Pavia, Julie (Sal) Palazzolo, and Sean (Jen); loving grandparents of 15: Grace Dyra, Ellen Dyra, Danielle (Danny Snyder), John Dyra, Maggie Mueller, Jessica Dyra, Clare Dyra, Thomas Dyra, Danny Mueller, Kevin Pavia, Billy Dyra, Morgan Dyra, Luke Pavia, Jack Palazzolo, and Matteo Palazzolo. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Pat leaves behind many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends near and far.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (nee McNeela), his brother, Robert E. Dyra, his sister-in-law, Kathleen (Kay) Kelly and his niece, Maureen Jasinski.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home at 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 9th at 9:15am at the funeral home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church at 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL for Funeral Mass at 10:00am. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
