

Paul R. Nordskog was born on October 5, 1925 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Severin and Mary (nee Larson) Nordskog. He passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Arlington Heights.Paul was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy, where he participated in the V-12 officer training program. Following his military service, he completed his Bachelors degree at Iowa State Teachers College and his Masters in Education at the University of Iowa. Mr. Nordskog was a teacher for 32 years. For most of his career he taught math and science at Lincoln Junior High School in Park Ridge. Mr. Nordskog enjoyed singing and participated in choirs, including the Apollo Chorus of Chicago and the Park Ridge Presbyterian Church Choir. He was also a long-time advocate for non-smoking regulations.Paul is survived by his wife of 13 years, N. Frances Nimmo Nordskog (nee Kelley); his children, Mark (Patricia) Nordskog, Kayleen (Robert) Scott, Carol (Mike) Fischer; his grandchildren, Ingrid (Mies Surdoval) Nordskog, Kristin (Frank) Dethlefsen, Erik Nordskog, Carrie (Brent) Southland, Jeff (Nicole) Scott, Brian Fischer, Kelly Fischer; his eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley B. Nordskog; his parents; and his sisters, Genevieve (the late Ed) Madsen and Ruth Helen (Fred) Strohbehn.Visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of services at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 18, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton , Arlington Heights. Interment Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
