Phyllis Catherine Henderson (nee Piotrowski), was the cherished wife of Bob Henderson; wonderful mother of Doug (Lisa) Henderson, Pamela (John) Dolniak, Donna (Joseph) Bitz and Diana (Michael) Hrametz; and proud grandmother of seven. Phyllis was born March 12, 1938, in Chicago to Edward and Gertrude Piotrowski. She was a graduate of Gage Park High School in 1955. She also graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill., in 1959. She received her master's degree in education from LaVerne College in Fullerton, Calif. She married her college sweetheart, Bob, June 25, 1960, and enjoyed a 30-year career teaching in Mount Prospect, District 26. She retired in 1994. Phyllis and her husband Bob enjoyed traveling and toured a great number of countries in the world. When Bob asked, "Are you ready to go*" She would respond, "My bags are packed." She took notes on the trips like a college student, and enjoyed each and every "field trip" they took. Phyllis was an outdoor girl. She enjoyed biking, boating, swimming, roller-blading, ice-skating, country dancing, snow mobiling and all outdoor sports. She would teach eight physical education classes and stop to work out on her way home. Bob and Phyllis were blessed with four lovely children and four great spouses. Each of them settled in the Northwest and Western suburbs. She has seven loving grandchildren who made the family circle complete. Her life was worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ, loving her family and friends, and teaching while living and enjoying life's present moments. Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral chapel, then proceed to a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Lincoln Street at Elmhurst Road (Route 83), Mount Prospect. Interment will be in Arlington Heights Wheeling Township Cemetery.
