Mrs Lockwood was the librarian at my elementary school. She was so sweet and kind and patient. In sixth grade our school did a “country fair”. My country was Bangladesh and Mrs Lockwood helped me put on a sari for the night. I was so grateful for her help because I had no idea how to do it! She will always be remembered.

I met Prabha after years 2 years ago when I came for Anj wedding. It was so wonderful meeting her and Gene and Tara and her family. And now both Gene and Prabha have gone. My heartfelt condolences. Nita

Prahba was a loving person, positive, spiritual, loving, thoughtful and kind. I will miss her in Book Club. Just can’t imagine her not being there. I have such fond memories of sharing many dinners with her and Steven Kellogg, her favorite artist/ illustrator of children’s books. When I was going through grad school for Library Media Services, they placed me at North Barrington for my student teaching with Prabha - how very lucky for me to learn from such an extraordinary person!  We stayed connected while my children attended North Barrington and she let me know when a school media position became available in the district.  She had such a positive, encouraging energy that she gave to everyone.  I will always be grateful for her friendship.

It’s so difficult  to find the words to describe how truly special Prahba was. Scripture asks each of us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I believe that Prahba embodied this. She helped without judgement. She prayed for people every single night. She once told me she alphabetized her prayer list to make sure she didn’t miss anyone. How Dewey decimal appropriate! She loved passionately and selflessly. She was one of my favorite humans. I love what someone wrote earlier,  “When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them,but to live with the love they left behind."-Unknown   If we can all live with her love and continue to shine her love back to our world, that would be a fitting tribute. We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Lockwood. She was truly the heart of NBS, and became fast friends with my daughter when she moved into the district as a 2nd grader! She even sent my daughter cards after she retired! Such an incredible, caring person. I helped with the yearbook during the year she retired and have these photos to share with her family. May she rest in peace.

I met Prahba at the jewelry counter at HOH they were short staffed one day and asked if Id work there instead of my scheduled position. After working together I requested Thursday afternoons In Jewelry so Prahba and I could catch up;talk politics, talk about our families... Thursday’s became our special day. We worked but we got whole lot of visiting in. Prahba prayed for my daughter to get a job listened to my problems and tried to get me to eat healthier. She was so special. There are few people in life that God grants you the privilege of knowing. Prahba was one of those. She loved unconditionally, accepted you without judgement, encouraged you  to find joy in life. She always asked about you and your family. And if needed add you to that prayer list of hers. I once asked how she remembered everyone I think she told me it was alphabetical. I will miss her every day of my life.

Deepest condolences to Tara, Michael, Michael L, Narain & family . Prabha was more than a relative to me - she was a dear friend, confidant, sister & aunt, all rolled into one . We shared a deep bond of friendship & often reminisced together about the past - fond memories of our parents & early years . Prabha was full of compassion, love & wisdom .      We will miss Prabha very dearly. She will always live on in our hearts, our thoughts & prayers . May God keep her & May she Rest In Peace .  Gita & Omesh

Prabha truly had the biggest heart I know.  She was always thinking of others, gave the best advice, and was one of the most positive people in this world.  She and I shared a passion for plays.  We’d gone to New York several times, and saw the best plays!  She told me she has collected over 150 playbills! Prabha had her favorite hotel, the Double Tree, right in Times Square.  She had favorite restaurants, such as Etc., and she always stopped in the Catholic church and lit candles as she prayed for her friends.  She made everyone she met, feel special.  In the evening, she would call her husband, Gene, and they always talked so sweetly to each other. Prabha was so generous with gifts, and there are so many wonderful memories of her around my house.  I will remember the fun times we spent together, and the enjoyable dinners we shared.  I loved seeing her at school and having lunch together.  She was an amazing librarian!  I miss her so much!

Our family met Prabha aunty several years back at Raj's house and our friendship grew over the years. She was fun to hang out with and could entertain people in any age group starting from toddlers. Our older daughter Zivah loves talking to Prabha aunty, telling her the stories. We still remember Prabha aunty sharing some very funny jokes with some of our friends during an evening gathering and we couldn't stop laughing for a long time. It did surprise all our friends of how fun Prabha aunty was to spend time with. It is wonderful to have observed the life of Prabha aunty and Gene uncle, so much love and caring.  We are very fortunate to have been part of Prabha aunty's special daily prayer list especially during adverse times, knowing that a special prayer is being submitted for my family by her. It was like an angel looking after the family. We will miss her dearly. Prabha aunty will always have a special place in our hearts. May her soul join Gene uncle and rest in peace together. Knowing Praha for a long time, both as a 220 teacher and a volunteer at House of Hope, I say unequivably, she was a hugely beautiful person.  Kind, personable, cheerful, compassionate, always, always upbeat. Her leaving us creates a void, but also a model for how a responsible person lives life.  Sympathies to her family and friends. I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Prahba .I met Prahba when we sent our oldest daughter to kindergarten at Countryside School.My daughter loved going to the library and loved Prahba.I began to volunteer and work with Prahba for many years.We became close friends in heart and spirit. Although we did not see each outside of school except a few times we always ended our work together with a cup of tea and a chat.We talked about our belief in and love for our Catholic faith. We prayed for each other.She left an indelible mark on my daughter when she gave her the opportunity to play the lead role in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. Every child needs someone like Prahba who takes the time and interest in that child.She was such a peaceful,gentle, and soft-spoken person.Prahba lived what she believed. This tiny, gracious, selfless woman is one of the most enormous powerhouses when it comes to the sharing of faith and love.  My life has been so greatly touched by her Spirit.  I am so deeply saddened, as are my 3 grown girls, her former students/readers, at the loss of Prabha. Prabha was a fabulous lady with a wonderful sense of humor.  I will miss her very much.

Prabha was a long time friend, for we did our Teacher's Training together in 1966 and stayed connected ever since She was beautiful and the most generous person I ever met. May she rest in peace with Eugene who pre~ deceased her 6 months before.

Prabha helped prepare me for a wedding in India. She gave me one of her saris and showed me how to wear it. She was always loving and kind. Sue

We were so saddened to learn of Praba's passing. She touched her hearts with her warmth, humor and caring. Although we only had a few hours to share with her over a week in Hawaii they were enough to know we were in the presence of one of the warmest and loveliest persons we ever met. I knew Prabha because she was the school librarian at Countryside School where my mother was a principal. My mom just died on June 14 and Prabha had come to see her.  They had been friends since , I believe 1975. We would often talk on the phone about my mother's care--and anyone who knew Prabha, knew she was a very caring person, I spoke to her last when she came to say good-bye to my mother on June 12.  When I heard the news, I could not believe it.  Then I said no, God must not have wanted them to be separated for long. They were both such good and caring people that I know they are now in heaven together. Prabha was part of a group of teachers, along with my mother, who have met regularly for over 30 years,  It is a testament to friendship and the bonds that women form,  Prabha, I will miss you.  You were a great lady.  Heaven is a more blessed place, now that you are there. Carole Nugent

Prabha was such a caring soul; she made library experiences meaningful to thousands of elementary children at Countryside & North Barrington Schools. Beloved by all, this wonderful woman with her braided hair practically down to the floor and gorgeous native garb, she added diversity just where it was needed. She was my friend for 40 years; we shared a passion for film & stage as well as friendships with other influential local women. Prabha was never afraid to speak her mind and especially to champion the underdogs in life. We were lucky to know her and even luckier to have her know us! Prabha, I will miss you so much~
