

The Rev. Kenneth R. Morris, CSV priest of the Viatorian Community died on Friday, November 12 at the age of 82. He was born in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Charles and Edna Birkenmier Morris. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Klotz of Pembroke Pines, FL, and his brother Patrick Morris of Collowhee, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Fr. Morris professed his first vows as a member of the Clerics of St. Viator in 1947. After completing his seminary studies at the Angelicum in Rome, Italy, he was ordained to the priesthood in l954. He continued graduate studies at Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, where he earned his SSB degree. He served as Professor of Scripture at the Viatorian Seminary in Washington, DC from 1961 to 1972. From 1974 until 1984, Fr. Morris was Provincial Superior of the Clerics of St. Viator, Province of Chicago. He returned to Rome in 1984 as Vicar General of the Viatorian Congregation and served as acting superior general from 1986 to 1988. During the years 1991-1994, he was Parochial Vicar at St. Viator Parish in Chicago. He then served as Parochial Vicar at St. Thomas More Parish in Henderson, Nevada from 1994 until his retirement in 2004.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Viator Parish in Chicago, IL. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Viator Church on Wednesday, Nov. l7 at l0:00 a.m. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
