Rodney A. “Rod” Smith, 88 of Arlington Heights was born November 29, 1928 in Mishawaka, IN to Donald Baker Smith and Elizabeth Dunbar Smith and passed away February 21, 2017. Rod was the beloved husband of Mildred R. “Millie” (nee Reid) Smith; loving father of Eric N. (April) Smith and Allyson (Michael) Duddley; cherished grandfather of Nathan, Kyle, Taylor and Kendall; dear brother of Fredric Smith and the late Donald Baker Smith Jr. and fond brother-in-law of Harold K. Reid. A memorial service and celebration of life reception will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:30 PM at St. Simon’s Episcopal Church, 717 W. Kirchhoff Road, Arlington Heights. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Illinois Society of American Revolution, 1177 Leicester Road, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 or Rectors Discretionary Fund at St. Simon’s Episcopal Church (to benefit local charities) appreciated.
