

Roger William Anderson, 77, of Arlington Heights, Illinois was born on July 19th, 1948 in Chicago and passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2025. Roger was the loving son to the late Fred and late Lillian (nee Anderson) Anderson, brother of Robert (Christine) Anderson, Janet (Gerard) Ballweg, and the late Richard Anderson. He was the cherished uncle to Eric (Jennifer Tatkin) & Daniel Anderson, Greg (Anna Carrera) & Matt Ballweg and loving great-uncle to Sofia & Benjamin.
Roger grew up in North Riverside, IL and graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School in 1966. From there he attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Services in 1976. Roger was a linguist, fluent in Spanish, and seized the opportunity to study abroad in Spain. Roger worked in several local libraries before joining CCS (Cooperative Computer Services) in 1988 where he served as the Database Manager for 26 years until his retirement in 2014. He was widely respected in his field of cataloging and information sharing. His contributions within these areas of the Illinois library system are unparalleled. Roger’s former manager described him as a “Legacy and a Standard”.
Roger who was passionate about music, was a skilled pianist and an active member of his choir at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. He was very proud of his Swedish heritage and did extensive genealogy work which included trips to Sweden. Roger’s other interests included antique glass collecting, travel and working on daily brain puzzles. Jeopardy was his favorite TV show. His love for his family and friends was unwavering. Above all, Roger’s motto was “Family First”. He will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
His wake will be held on Monday, January 5th from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights, IL followed by an internment at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.
