

Born October 27, 1954 to Richard James Petty and Mary Jane (Hillier) Petty in Evanston, IL.
Survived by his sons Russell (Amy Galpin) and Ryan (Amy), grandfather of Brandon, Graham and Jack Petty. He is survived by siblings Janice (William) Carpenter, Raymond (Lynne) Petty, Judith (Donald) Calhoun, Jeanne (Greg) Hansen, Jennifer Prouty and sister-in-law Cindy Petty. 18 nieces and nephews, 21 great-nieces and nephews, and by his first wife, Sandra (Carlson) Petty.
Preceded in death by his wife Carol (Curtis) Petty, parents Richard and Mary Jane Petty and his brother, Richard Jeffrey Petty.
Roger worked and eventually owned Murry's Auto Repair in Wilmette, IL. He enjoyed racing Formula Ford cars until his first son was born. Roger and Carol moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 2010 where he worked for Lowe's in Shipping & Receiving. While in Arkansas he was a volunteer fireman for the Buford Fire Protection District. They moved back to Illinois in 2016. When he moved back to Arlington Heights he was an avid volunteer/worker at The Lutheran Church of the Cross Food Pantry.
Roger loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. His passion was spending time with his grandsons and Family.
Memorial Visitation Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Memorial Mass Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL.
Interment will be private.
