

She was born on August 30, 1929, in Washington, D.C. at National Homeopathic Hospital. The daughter of Benjamin E. and Frances (Jones) Watkins. On January 30, 1965 she married the love of her life Leonard S. Belmonte at St. Tarcissus Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois.
She received a Bachelor's of Arts degree from DePaul University, and a Master's degree in History from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. She taught at, and later was the first principal of the Lincoln School in Schiller Park. She was a life long member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), and an Honorary Regent of the Kishwaukee Trail Chapter of the NSDAR, where she had been a member for 52 years. She also was a member of St. Mary's Church in Woodstock, the Madonna Court of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the McHenry County Historical Society, the Auxiliary of the Memorial Medical Center, and the Woodstock Fine Arts Association. She lived a very full and interesting life.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard S. Belmonte, her parents Benjamin and Frances Watkins, her sister Frances Watkins, and her brother Jerome Watkins. She is survived by their children Andrew Belmonte of State College, PA. Edward (Debra) Belmonte of Medina, OH, and Anne Belmonte Luburic of Chicago, IL, her adoring grandchildren Clare (Kevin) Clegg; George, Beatrice, Benjamin and Rachael Belmonte; Kyle, Alexandra and Gabriella Luburic, a great grandson Dawnson Clegg and many fond nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Glueckert Funeral Home, located at 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 10:30 until 11:30 am, preceded by visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 312 Lincoln Ave, Woodstock, IL 60098. Immediately following Mass, there will be a procession to Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rosemary's name to St. Mary's School or Marian Central Catholic High School, in Woodstock, Illinois.
