Sally Joanne Aigner

Sally Joanne Aigner, 77, of Arlington Heights, daughter of Jean (nee Gingrich) and George Benjamin Hocker of Harrisburg, PA, passed peacefully on October 25, 2023. She was the sister of Benjamin (Susan) Hocker, devoted mother to Seth Matthew (Karen) Aigner and Molly (Scott) Russell; adoring grandmother of Grace, Zachary, Phoebe, Harlan and Vivian.

In addition to her devotion to her family, she was known for her excellence as a teacher, keen mind (Phi Beta Kappa) and sense of humor, faithfulness to the Lutheran community and love of music, hospitality/entertaining/cooking, interior decorating and travel.

For 54 years Sally was the beloved wife and partner of the Reverend Frederick Aigner, PhD, President Emeritus of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois and former Senior Pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, IL.

Public visitation Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The family will hold a private service of thanksgiving to God at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church for her so enriching them we her grace, faithfulness and love. Farewell and Godspeed!
