Sally Sopchyk was born April 25, 1930 in Chicago to E. Wilson and Lillian B. Christian (nee Baldwin). She passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at her home.
Sally was a homemaker and worked at Persin and Robbin Jewelers in Arlington Heights for over 20 years. She was a long-time, active member of First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, where she sang in the Chancel Choir for over 40 years. Sally was also a member of the Elks Club, Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Matt (Michelle) Sopchyk, Pam (Russell, III DDS) Fitton, Mark (Mary Claire) Sopchyk; her grandchildren, Mathew (Ashley) Sopchyk, Michael (Ashley) Sopchyk, Mark Sopchyk, Marissa Sopchyk (Joe Mollica), Russell P. (Tara) Fitton, IV DDS, John A. Fitton, Patrick W. Fitton, Kelsey Sopchyk, Chrissy Sopchyk, and John Sopchyk; her great grandchildren, Mathew, Kayden and Michael Blake Sopchyk; her sister-in-law, Alice Christian; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She joins her husband of 38 years, Mathew "John" J. Sopchyk; her parents and her brothers, Wils Christian and B. George Christian, in eternal life. Sally and John enjoyed many happy years of endless summers boating on Geneva Lake with family and friends, and entertaining them at their home in Williams Bay, WI.
Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois; and from 2:30 pm until time of funeral service at 3:30 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights, IL, 60004, please specify for Chancel Choir.
