Sandra J Petersen

Sandra was a devoted mother, friend, nurse and caregiver who enjoyed gardening, quilting, and putting together puzzles. She was an excellent baker and cook and was known for her deep-dish pizza and lasagna. An avid sports fan, Sandra was loyal to the Chicago Blackhawks and appreciated spending time and sharing laughs with her close group of long-time friends.

Sandra is survived by her children Elizabeth (the late Jarett) LaCaeyse, Paul (Suzanne) Petersen, Cynthia (Richard) Hecht, and Christopher Petersen; grandchildren Sydney, Kylie, Tyler, Justin, Alison, Fletcher, and Harrison; great-grandchild Marigold; and siblings Bette Brandenburg, and Gary (the late Dixie) Brandenburg.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years David Petersen, and her parents.

A memorial visitation for Sandra will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, Illinois, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM. Inurnment private.

Sandra’s family would like to thank Sunrise of Prospect Heights for its excellent care over the past few years and Three Oaks Hospice for their care and compassion over the past several months.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Three Oaks Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Sandra.
