Saverio Iacobellis

Saverio Iacobellis was born on December 30, 1930 in Italy to Michael and Francesca (nee Losacco) Iacobellis. He died Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at his residence at Waverly Place Independent Cottages in Arlington Heights surrounded by his loving family.

He was a member of the Italian Navy prior to immigrating to America. Once in America, he became a member of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a Naval Technician. He was proud of both his services and proud to be a Veteran.

The hands-on knowledge that he learned in the Airforce and Navy led him to DeVry Institute of Technology where he graduated and became an Electronic Technician. Sam held many positions using his skills, and ultimately secured his career with the FAA for over 40 years.

Sam had many interests and hobbies. His biggest passion was his family and a love for food and cooking which he believed brought the family together. He loved spending time in his yard gardening and watching the wildlife with his dog, Poppy. Poppy became the center of his world after Vita passed. He loved to read and learn all that he could about many different subject matters. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling with his wife Vita and spending time at their vacation home in Florida. This also became the place of many family gatherings, which thrilled him. The life he created with Vita, his children and grandchildren was his biggest accomplishment and his biggest joy.Sam is survived by his children Frances Stolfa, Janet (Mike) Lucadello, Marianne (Bobby) Atherton and Lisa (Phil) Prestia; his grandchildren, Tania Stolfa, Justin (Tiffany) Lucadello, Jason (Vikki) Lucadello, Peter Prestia, Gina (fiancé Ryan Maxwell) Prestia, Gianna Lucadello, Samuel Atherton and Nicholas Atherton; his great-grandchildren, Danielle Lucadello, Danika Lucadello, Vinni Lucadello, and Niko Lucadello, and many nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his spouse of 68 years Vita Marie Iacobellis (nee Pesce), his parents as well as his siblings.Visitation Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines.
