I was sad to hear that my cousin Scottie had passed into heaven.  I am 12 years older than Scottie so I was off to IU in Bloomington when he started first grade and then moved to CA.  But here is a story many might not know or remember.  When Scottie was a tiny little boy, he knew all the A.,B,C and numbers.  I don't mean just to recite them or sing the little tune.  He could recognize all of them before he was two years old!  He has just learned to talk and I would try to trick him, but he KNEW THE LETTERS.  Didn't matter if I printed them or we looked at the alphabet blocks or saw a sign.   He was astonishing.  Last time I saw Scottie, we danced at my sister, Diane's wedding in 1985.  I am sure he will find a guardian angel position in heaven.

Scott.. where do I even begin? He was the only person who could talk to me grumpily, and I'd know it was pure love. That's just how he was.

There was an undeniable aura about Scott that made you feel safe, and I truly believe everyone who knew him felt it. These past few years working with him were a blessing. Beyond keeping us safe, he'd make us laugh, and he was always there to listen and offer advice when you needed it most.

Scott was a rockstar when it came to Women's Shoes, with everyone in the Division/Region seeking his guidance and opinion for their shoe business. I still remember when he first left our store years ago. We were happy for his new chapter at Macy's, but we were sad to see him go. When we heard he was coming back to our store as a senior leader, we were all so excited. He had a remarkable way of leading; you always felt seen and heard. When he moved to Oakbrook, we were sad to see him go, but we knew they were gaining an incredible leader and friend.

I recently saw him at State Street during a retirement luncheon, and I can tell you everyone was excited to see him. Hearing about his journey to heaven wasn't easy, but I find comfort knowing his spirit is at peace. I'll miss those rides home after closing shifts, even the lingering cigarette smell. A part of me wants to light one up for him, but then I can almost hear him, plain as day, saying, "Why the f*** would you do that, Jacquie?"

Scott had such a special place in my heart. He took me under his wing on a special project. Organizing all the stock rooms on the 2nd floor. He taught me many things including how to transfer out merchandise. We had a visit with Kim DM I believe to see the progress. Her eyes got huge . Afterwards Scott told me I made the visit. I just wanted to make him proud that he had the confidence in me to get that job done. I will miss him so much.

To Scott's family and close friends, 

I first met Scott when he hired me at Desmond's formal wear in Woodfield Mall when I was in high school. I just wanted the job to get the free tuxedo rental for prom, but little did I know I would meet one of my favorite "bosses" I've ever had. Now at age 45 I own a hair salon and Scott has supported me for the last few years by coming to me for his haircuts (which brings me sadness to know I gave him his last one ever just a few weeks ago). We would laugh and reminisce about the times and characters we worked with those 27 years ago. I'm grateful to him for all of those fond memories I have as a young man starting out in the working world...

To Scott’s Family, 

Please accept the deepest and most sincere condolences. Scott was an amazing person. There was a privilege and pleasure of working with him at Macy’s on State Street. He was always very supportive, kind, and had a great sense of humor. Early morning chats over coffee and words of encouragement will be forever missed. Thank you for always being a genuine person and a great mentor. You will be missed dearly.

As a sales associate at Macy's on State it was always a pleasure to see and talk to Scott.  We have missed him since he went to Oak Brook. It's difficult to know our paths will never cross again. We all have stories of Scott's kindness.

Prayers & Friendship.
As I begin to think of Scott. 
I think of his kindness and his Support. I only knew Scott for a short time @ Macy's, but that was good enough for me to know that Scott was a kind person. Scott was encouraging & inspiring. He had a sense of humor from time to time. I always felt safe @ work when I knew he was the closing manager. I Loved Scott's Caring ways in keeping Everyone safe @ work.  I will miss Scott visiting my department @ Macy's. seen his face and smiles and walking with Macy's Management team around Macy's . Farewell my Amigo. We lose a brother/ Friend But Heaven gains Son an Angel.

Scott you were a great mentor i will never forget are long talks you giving me the courage do things that were scary.  And all the years of friendship we had you will never be forgotten my friend.

I met Scott in the mid 90’s and he never went into a room without a smile or a kind word for everyone he met. We have another angel looking out for us and we will deeply miss your kindness and sincerity Scott!

i met scott in 2000 when i was a young man i started working at hunters at the door, he was always there for me as a friend, to offer advice, kindness, or a funny comment, i had alot of good times with him over the years, meals, conversations, outings with the staff from hunters,  over the past few years we didnt speak much and lost touch, i saw today that we have lost him, and i feel saddened as i miss him and and all the good times, i feel like a whole time period of my life has just disappeared with his death.
