Sean Michael O'Connell

Sean Michael O'Connell, 27, of Chicago was born on June 5, 1995, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to James and Kathleen (nee Haverty) O'Connell. The Lord called Sean home Wednesday, November 23, 2022, unexpectedly while he was visiting his family at their home in Long Grove, Illinois.

Sean graduated from Stevenson High School, Lincolnshire in 2013 before attending Miami of Ohio University and graduating from Lake Forest College. Upon graduation, He entered the Private Equity industry and was a partner with Traverse Point Partners in Chicago.

With his infectious smile and big personality, Sean would bring energy and laughter to any situation. An avid sports fan and participant of several, he was passionate about golf and loved playing with his family and friends at their home course at Kemper Lakes. He loved Chicago and enjoyed all the city had to offer. He was an active supporter and Junior Board member of By the Hand Club for Kids, Chicago. Most important to Sean was his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, he attended The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in his youth and Moody Bible while living in the city.

Sean was the oldest of six children and 21 grandchildren, a role and responsibility he took very seriously and came natural to Him. Sean is survived by his parents Kathleen and James; his siblings Patrick (Taryn), Aidan (Jael), Liam, Seamus, and Grace; his grandparents Michael and Patricia Haverty; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends and His loyal companion, Simba, His one year old golden retreiver.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Marguerite O'Connell.

The Family will be holding a private funeral service. A public celebration of Sean's life will be scheduled for a later date where all are welcome.
