Wendell Allan Stoike died peacefully on May 16, 2021, at Northwest Community Hospital. He was the only child born to Leslie and Ethel (nee Luerssen) Stoike on March 4, 1933, in Elmhurst, Illinois.
He spent his early years in Itasca, Illinois. Later his family moved to Arlington Heights where he was a long-time resident. After graduating from Arlington High School, he attended Knox College, graduating with a B.A. degree in Business. Among his many accomplishments are serving in the US Army as a Captain, retiring from Sears Roebuck after 38 years, and serving as Deacon and Trustee at First Presbyterian Church which he attended faithfully for many years.
Wendell married Rosalie Easdale Stoike on July 20, 1968, in Tilden, Illinois.
Wendell loved talking about cars, politics, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, two daughters, Lynn Stoike and Ellen (Jessica) Forrest, and two grandchildren, Bryan and Megan. He was predeceased by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held on June 2 at Randhill Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 12 from 10-11 am at First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. Dunton Avenue in Arlington Heights. The memorial service will begin at 11 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
