William Joseph Dorsey Jr.

William Joseph “Bill” Dorsey Jr. passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Chicago in May 1944 to William Sr. and Theresa Dorsey (née Costello), Bill lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Randolph (CVS-15) from July 4, 1966, to May 29, 1968. Following his military service, Bill worked as the Chief Engineer at 1 S. Wacker Drive from 1982 until his retirement in 2008. He was an active and respected member of both the Chief Engineers Association of Chicago and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399. As a proud veteran and community member, he was involved with the Arlington Heights American Legion Post 208 and the Moose Lodge 660 of Mount Prospect.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Shannan (Saul) Pelayo, Erica (Michael) Kral, and Janine Dorsey; cherished grandchildren Gabrielle, Brandon, Olivia, Elizabeth, and Nathaniel; and his great-granddaughter, Nora.Bill will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family and country.

Funeral Mass will take place on June 13th at 10 AM at The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe,1170 N River Rd. Des Plaines IL, 60016. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, at 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
