William Charles Fluger

William C Fluger, 78, was born on February 4, 1944, in Glenview, IL to Howard and Anna (nee Reedy-Finan) Fluger. He died Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Symphony of Buffalo Grove.

Mr. Fluger was employed with Commonwealth Edison for over 30 years before retiring in 2001. He worked as a splicer in the underground department and enjoyed mentoring new employees as a trainer. He was proud of the major projects he worked on including Woodfield Shopping Mall, Northwest Community Hospital, and Northbrook Court among others. William was a member of IBEW Local #15.

His pass-times included woodworking, gardening, classic cars and taking auto rides which he called "Skying." He was an accomplished baker and had spent time early on as a professional baker. Bill was a volunteer bus driver and handyman for the Rolling Meadows Senior Center and baffled others with his skill in solving logic puzzles. He also enjoyed watching Westerns on TV and endlessly entertained family friends and co-workers with song and his whistling. He had a whistle for all occasions. His greatest enjoyment came by providing loving attention to his grandsons.

Bill was especially proud of his service in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a helicopter crew chief and door gunner and also a former member of Mt. Prospect VFW Post #1337.

William is survived by his children, Susan and Erick (Amy Meier) Fluger; his grandchildren Liam and Finn Fluger; and his sisters Beverly Hee and Shirley Bland.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (nee Harris); his parents; and his brother-in-law Bill Hee.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
