

William "Bill" Wegner was born November 28, 1926 in Truman, Minnesota, to Herman and Anna Wegner. He died peacefully at home on July 12, 2015.Bill's retirement from the United States Postal Inspection Service in 1984 gave him time to enjoy bicycling, cross-country skiing, golfing, and spending more time with family. A member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, he served on various committees and was active in children's ministries. He dearly loved his family and the feeling was mutual.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; children Lynn and Mike Mikels, Tom and Donna Wegner, and Jim and Colleen Wegner; grandchildren Meghan and Rob Hamilton, Kristin Mikels and Frank Dunblaus, Andy and Melissa Wegner, Jonathan Mikels, Nathan Wegner, Stephen Mikels and Sarah Wattar, Bryan Wegner, and Jackson Wegner; great grandchildren Lily and Ella Hamilton; numerous canine family members.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.Visitation Friday, July 17, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, 1903 Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights.
