

Born on September 19, 1936, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Ben was the son of Ovie “Patty” Moore and Benjamin Frank Whiteley. From an early age, Ben embodied a bold spirit and strong sense of purpose that he carried throughout his life.
Ben proudly served his country for 21 years in both the United States Army and Navy. His military service was followed by a distinguished civilian career in aviation, where he worked for the B-2 bomber—an achievement that exemplified his dedication and technical expertise.
Ben married, Marie Whiteley, and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Patti Ouart (husband Adam Ouart) and TyRee Schneider (husband Kevin Schneider). He was a proud and involved grandfather to Alexis Mosley, Trey Mosley, Everlee Benton Schneider, Selah Schneider, and Guy Schneider, and a great-grandfather to Kayden Mosley.
A larger-than-life personality with a passion for people and sports, Ben made a lasting impact as a fast-pitch softball umpire. He loved being on the field, mentoring young athletes, and calling the game with fairness and enthusiasm. His strong voice, encouragement, humor, and no-nonsense style made him unforgettable to players and coaches alike.
Ben is survived by his sister, Corkey Birdsell, along with numerous friends and family who will remember his energy, leadership, and unwavering loyalty.
Ben will be remembered for his love of God.
An open visitation for Ben will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A committal service will occur Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
