Born on June 28, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, Carol’s early life was marked by hardship. She was placed in foster care as a child and endured a difficult upbringing. Yet through deep resilience and God-given strength, she grew into a woman defined not by the pain she faced but by the compassion, determination, and love she poured into others. Later in life, Carol was reunited with her birth mother, Helen Lovett—a connection that brought long-awaited understanding and healing.
Carol completed high school and worked diligently to earn her Nurse’s Aide certification, reflecting her perseverance and devotion to caring for others. In her younger years, she enjoyed softball, bowling, and traveling. As her life matured, she found joy in reading, gardening, knitting, and sewing—quiet pursuits that expressed her creativity and warmth.
Carol had a special love for children. There was not a child she did not welcome with kindness. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even the neighborhood children, offering them the safety, affection, and warmth she herself had longed for as a child.
Those who knew Carol remember her strong work ethic and unwavering determination—when she set her mind on something, there was no stopping her. She was honest, strong-willed, and carried a servant’s heart that touched many lives.
Carol was preceded in death by her birth mother, Helen Lovett; her sister, Susan Moreau; her foster sister, Peggy Polito; and her son, Arthur Howarth.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William K. Adams; her siblings, Joe Moreau and Debbie Latozke; and her children: Cheryl Howarth Falkenstein, William “Bill” Howarth, Katherine Humphries, Judy Blackadar, Sue Squires, Andrew Beckwith, Kelly Adams Croston, and Jennifer Harrison. Her legacy of love continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
