

Don was a graduate of 1965 Calvert High School in Tiffin. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. In Thailand he met love of his life Prapit Hartsel and started his family. After his honorable service to the military, he taught at Southern Illinois University as a Professor of Avionics Engineering. Seeking new opportunities he moved his family to Texas to work for General Dynamics followed by Lockheed Martin as a Software Engineer. After 33 years of service he retired, but continued to share his knowledge with others teaching Advanced Computer Programming & Web Development part-time at Tarrant County College NE Campus.
Donald is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington Texas. He enjoyed traveling visiting many places throughout the world. His goal in life was to provide for his family and spending his time being a family man preferring to spend his weekends hanging out and being a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his comical personality, his strength, and most importantly his selfless heart. The love for his family was invariably present, and his legacy will continue to live on.
Mr. Hartsel was preceded in death by his father Donald Hartsel Sr.
Survivors: Including his mother Winifred Hartsel, wife of 47 years, Prapit; three sons: Don (Nuvaree) Hartsel III, John Hartsel, Richard Hartsel; four brothers: Tim (Dorothy) Hartsel, David (Barb) Hartsel, Guy Hartsel and Scott (Vicki) Hartsel, all of Tiffin O.H. ; two sisters: Karen (Denny) Miller of Tiffin O.H. and Vennetta Mullins (Steve Altmeyer) of Sycamore O.H.; four grandchildren: Samantha, Donald IV, Justin and Zachary.
