Doris Elaine Barker

Elaine was born in Boyd Texas to Wayne and Bertha Lee Read. They moved to Arlington in 1951 and she graduated from Arlington High School in 1958. She met Raymond Barker shortly after and they married in 1961. While Raymond was stationed in Germany with the Army, Elaine found out she was pregnant with their first child, Suze. Once they returned to the states some 11 months later she found out she was pregnant with their second and last child, Sherry. Her first grandchild was born in 2004 to Suze and is his grandfather’s namesake, Little Ray as he was called. Second and last grandchild, Micha was born in 2011. Both grandchildren were the light of Raymond and Elaine lives and filled their hearts with love beyond measure. Raymond and Elaine were married 53 years when Raymond passed in 2014. Elaine lived with both her daughters in the last 8 years when she passed on July 11th.

She will be remembered for her smile, her laugh and most of all her love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her parents, Wayne and Bertha Lee Read.

She is survived by her daughters, Suze (Alex) Maldonado and Sherry (Mark) Martin; sister, Barbara Motley; uncle, William “Parker” Darwin; nephew, Britt (Mary) Motley; sister in law, Betty Smith and grandchildren, Raymond Maldonado and Micha Martin. She had many friends and bonus families that she loved dearly and will miss her til they meet again.

A visitation for Doris will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A graveside service will occur Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Southland Cemetery, 800 SW 3rd St., Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
