Dusty was born on September 26, 1945, in Texarkana, Texas, to George Kirkland Grimes, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Grimes (Bader), who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Grimes; his children, Colleen LaHaise (John), Kelly Babbitt (David), Carly Reynolds (Josh), and Mitchell Grimes; and his cherished grandchildren, Reagan Babbitt, Riley Reynolds, Avery Reynolds, Triton Reynolds, and Henley Reynolds. He is also survived by his brother, Doug Grimes (Cindy); his sister-in-law, Cinda Farrell; and eleven beloved nieces and nephews.
Dusty grew up in New Boston, Texas, where he distinguished himself as a standout athlete, earning four varsity letters in high school. As a senior, he was honored by his peers as Mr. New Boston High School. He graduated in 1963 and went on to attend Texas A&M University, graduating in 1967 as a proud member of the Corps of Cadets (Hellcat Nine).
He built a successful career with Aerospace Optics and Access Partnership, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Above all, Dusty was a man of deep faith and a profound love for God. He found great joy in sports, motorcycling, and—most importantly—spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of Rush Creek Church, where his faith and sense of community were central to his life.
A celebration of Dusty’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rush Creek Church – Green Oaks Campus, 2350 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, TX 76017.
In lieu of traditional arrangements, the family welcomes potted plants or flowers that can be planted in his memory.
