Born on March 24, 1948 in Hungary, George was the first of three children born to Joseph and Magdolna Kleinmann. George and his family escaped to Canada in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. They settled in Beamsville Ontario as fruit and chicken farmers.
He met Barbara in Toronto and being a sentimental guy; he and Barbara married in 1980, exactly one year from the day they met. This match was meant to be; Barb and George were together for over 41 years.
George spent more than 50 years in his long and rewarding career in ‘IT’. He and Barbara moved to Arlington in 2000 where he started working for AAFES, and retired last November after 20 years of service. He and Barbara had been looking forward to travelling in his retirement. It’s very sad that he didn’t have nearly as much time as he had plans.
George was a talented poker player, and showed the same good humor and grace whether playing for pennies with the kids or competing in Vegas. Several years ago, he started bowling and enjoyed himself and all the new friends he made there.
His generous nature showed up in his support for family and through giving to local charities.
George is survived by his loving wife Barbara, mother Magda, sister Susie, children Sharon (James), Tracey, Tamara (Allon), and five grandchildren Jake, Chloe, Paige, Maya, and Adam. He was predeceased by his father Joseph, sister Helena and son-in-law Kevin.
George, you are loved and will be greatly missed.
There will not be a service as per George’s wishes.
Please feel free to add any personal thoughts or remembrances of George.
