

Gerald Taylor Wimpee, 88, of Pantego, passed away on June 17th 2023. He was born June 6th 1935 in Kemp, Tx to Dave O. And Bessie M Wimpee of Kaufman. He graduated from Kaufman High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army where he was listed as an Expert Marksman. He was also the pitcher for his unit’s softball team. He went on to TCU where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics.
He specialized in computers throughout his entire career. He founded Wimpee Data Service in the early 1970’s . His business served the local Country Clubs managing the players handicaps keeping them current. He was a software programming genius and managed the data of Dallas based company’s SH Lynch & Co. Strohs, and Mini Max before becoming a Realtor for Century 21 In 1985. He retired in 1997 from Pollock Paper of Grand Prairie.
His second home was the golf course. He spent 50 yrs perfecting his swing. When he was not playing he would Marshall for Glen Gardens and Texas Star Golf Courses. He was an avid golfer and wore his TCU attire loud and proud.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, of 55 years. He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Lewis and James Wylie of Pantego, a daughter Cyndy Wimpee of Pantego, a grandson Logan Lewis and wife Hunter, of Mansfield, and a granddaughter Brooklyn Wimpee of Pantego. Other survivors include a sister Wanda Thompson of Arlington, nephews Shaw Thompson and wife Allyson of Arlington and Taylor Thompson and wife Jocelyn of Wichita Kansas Also included are nieces and nephews. With much appreciation love and respect we acknowledge Stacy Hill and the VA caregivers and all that loved and cared for Gerald.
A memorial service for Gerald will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. *** Service is at Davis location and not Bowen location***
