

John Dee Martens, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 28, 2015. Memorial Visitation: An informal “Celebration of Life” reception will be held at Moore Bowen Funeral Home, Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 1pm to 4pm. Please stop by and share your memories of John with his family and the many friends he made throughout his life. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Instead, donations can be made to your favorite charity or to the Alzheimer Association. John was born in Chappell, Nebraska in 1938. He met and married Sue, his wife of 56 years, while attending Nebraska Wesleyan University. They migrated to Texas so John could continue to pursue a mechanical engineering degree through the work/study program and SMU I Dallas. He enjoyed a long career in the aerospace industry working on many highly technical space related projects. Handsome, intelligent, funny, kind and creative, he has contributed so much to his family and friends. We can build a living memorial to him by incorporating any of his sterling qualities into our own lives. A special note from Lindsey and her family; “To the greatest Grandpa who has ever lived, thank you for being our teacher, protector and most importantly the loving arms that wrapped around us no matter what. We love you and you will live in our hearts forever.” Survivors: wife, Sue Martens; daughter, Tami Busby; granddaughter, Lindsey Martens, spouse Brandon, their daughters Markayla, Johnienna and Charleigh; sister Faye Hutchings and husband Roger; brothers-in-law Dave Teachman and wife Sandi, John Teachman and wife Marissa. John was preceded in death by his son Mark Dee Martens.
