Katye Joyce Thornton, 80 died on April 22, 2013 in Fort Worth, Texas. The funeral service is at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2013 at Moore Bowen Road Chapel with the Rev. James Reeves officiating. Interment will be at 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 29, at DFW National Cemetery.
Joyce was born in Meridian, Mississippi to Henry and Anna Mae Woodall on September 18, 1932. She graduated from Meridian High School and continued on to Meridian Jr., College. She was active with the Red Cross Children organization and remembered for her antique doll reproductions and paintings. Joyce is preceded in death by her only daughter, Anna Elizabeth Watkins.
Survived by her husband of 60 yrs, Jesse S. Thornton; son, Jesse Stephen Thornton Jr.; 3 grandaughters, Amanda Nicole Thornton of SMU, Jessica Hashup and husband Jestin, and Katye C. Watkins; 2 grandsons, Trae Watkins and wife Carol, and William Stephen Watkins and wife Linda; 3 great grandsons, Matthew Watkins of Frisco, Jay and Max Watkins of Germany; 2 sisters, Rosalie Stephens and Patricia Jones both of Meridian, MS.
