We are sad to announce the untimely passing of The Man, The Myth, The Legend…. Keith Gregory, 55, of Arlington, TX, He did so after WINNING his seven yearlong battle with the hateful and incurable ALS, AKA Lou Gherig’s Disease.
Keith Gregory, aka our BAMF, our superhero, our Honey Badger, and our imperfectly perfect/perfectly imperfect HUSBAND, FATHER, SON, BROTHER, UNCLE and MOST IMPORTANTLY “GRANDADDY”, was born in Norfolk, VA on May 31, 1967. He is the son of Robert W. & Jane F. Gregory. Keith was raised along with his two sisters, both of whom he was crazy about, Vanessa and Sabrina, in Virginia & North Carolina before relocating here to Arlington, TX in 1984. He loved life and was full of it. He lived, worked and loved hard for his family. He would have done anything for anyone he cared about. He has many lifelong friends because of these characteristics. Despite getting diagnosed with ALS a month shy of his 49th birthday, he lived a successful, productive and enviable life.
Keith, a proud mama’s and dad’s boy until his last breath- met his bride-to-be, Susan Embrey Gregory, shortly after he moved to Arlington. He married her in 1985, when they were only 18 years old. And they had each other’s backs until the day he passed, which happened to be on the day of their 37th wedding anniversary. After he and Susan settled in Arlington, they had one daughter, Shay, who loves her father more than anything in the entire world (and vice versa) and will always cherish the fun vacations he and mom took her on when she was young and the way he tried to fix her hair before school sometimes when mom was at work. It was when his grandchildren were born, Gavin in 2007 and Vivienne in 2010, that his heart was at its fullest. They were a huge motivation for his brave and enduring fight against ALS. Keith has always been a force to be reckoned with. He grew up excelling in in academics and sports. He attended a magnet school in elementary years and primarily played baseball, but he played football and basketball throughout his high school school years as well. He was accepted into Stephen F. Austin with a scholarship and to play baseball after graduating from Arlington High School, but Keith chose to get married and start a career in his family’s business instead of go to the university. He worked as a GM at his dad’s McDonald’s franchises until they retired in 2013. Keith went to school to learn to fly helicopters, which he absolutely loved, and he also became a licensed realtor before the symptoms of the disease took over. He loved every minute of it. He also loved the beach. Most of all he loved the N. Carolina Beaches, where he also requested his ashes be scattered on Crystal Beach in Emerald Isle.
Surviving our amazing Keith are his wife, Susan Gregory, his daughter, Shaylyn Gregory, grandchildren, Gavin & Vivienne Quintanilla, Parents, Robert and Jane Gregory all of Arlington, sister Vanessa Miller and husband Brad, of Grand Prairie and their children Cody Bench and fiancé Breanna, Tyler and Lexi Miller, sister, Sabrina Caverly and husband, Kevin, their children Anna and Vance Caverly of Mansfield, Aunt Rachel Freeman, Cousins Kimberly Stamps and husband Jason, April Freeman and Shannon Freeman, and a long list of relatives and friends that will miss his iconic “Keith” smile every day. In addition to the humans, he leaves behind three beloved family pets that always put a smile on his face, including his pound puppy “Dude”, German Shepherd “Nori” and the newest addition, a blue eyed Corgi named “Arlo”.
Keith’s Celebration of Life will be held in the beginning of January and we will post details on Facebook once we have everything worked out.
A celebration of Life will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm, at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Rd., Arlington, TX 76016.
