Larry Eugene Woolard, 78, of Burleson, passed away on February 18, 2024. Larry was born on November 15, 1945. He was the son of Oscar and Maxine Woolard of Alvarado, Texas. After he graduated from Alvarado High School, Larry joined the Air Force. During his service in the military, Larry earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at East Texas State University in Commerce. He later earned a Masters degree in Human Behavior from National University in San Diego, California.
While in the Air Force, Larry served tours in Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Guam. He was promoted to Master Sergeant before retiring after over 20 years in the Air Force. He risked his life for our country. We are grateful for and honor his service and sacrifice for America’s freedom.
After retirement, Larry went on to work in the Aerospace and Defense industries for both Bell Helicopter and Lockheed Martin.
At Bell Helicopter his work was focused on the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor military aircraft. Later, while working for Lockheed Martin he focused on components for space stations and led installations of F-35 and F-22 aircraft at various military bases. He truly loved his work and was grateful for the opportunities God opened to him.
Larry married Irene, the love of his life, on April 28, 1967. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. Larry and Irene went on to have 3 children - Brandy, Chris, and Dustin. As a couple they exemplified a lifetime of loving, serving, and being committed to each other. What a beautiful legacy.
Larry faithfully served his church and Pastors Gerald and Brenda Waite as a dedicated Sunday School Director and Deacon at Faith Assembly of God for over 40 years.
In 2015, Larry retired from Lockheed Martin and spent his time with Irene drinking coffee, traveling, fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and enjoying time with his family. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren! They were his greatest joy.
Throughout his life Larry always looked for ways to help people in any way he could. He was an encourager and loved to bless others. He was incredibly giving and loved to plan surprises. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
