Linda Jean Higgins (Gailor), 74, beloved mother, sister and grandmother died peacefully Monday, January 5, 2026. She is survived by her daughters Denise Higgins and Jamie Brown, her son-in-law Jason and grandson Ethan, and her brother John Gailor and his wife Donna, cousins and many friends. Her husband Joseph Higgins and her brother Gary Gailor preceded her in death.
Linda was born in Ballston Spa, New York, to Stella and Roy Gailor, and graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1970. She married Joe in 1971 at St. Clements Church before the military deployed him to Vietnam. The U.S. Air Force sent the family overseas and to several cities throughout the U.S. Eventually, Linda and Joe settled in Iowa Park, Texas, where they raised their family.
She enjoyed working in food service at Texhoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls. She felt her work made a difference to the residents and that well-prepared meals brought them joy. Not long after her retirement she returned to the kitchen, this time at Kidwell Elementary School. Outside of work she enjoyed volunteering and staying active with church friends. They prayed the rosary, taught Sunday school and assisted various nonprofits. Throughout the years she took in several dogs and spoiled them. She was an excellent bingo player. Her greatest delight was spending time with family, especially her grandson. She lived her final years in Arlington, Texas, minutes away from Ethan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be sent to Christ the King Catholic Church in Iowa Park or the American Parkinson Disease Foundation.
