She grew up in Pearsall where she attended elementary school. She was a migrant worker, from early childhood to early adulthood, traveling with her family to Michigan and Indiana. She finally settled in Grand Prairie, TX to be near her siblings. She was a single mother who worked hard to provide for her children. She proudly worked for Vought Aircraft for 35 years, which took her to California and Chihuahua Mex then back to her home in Grand Prairie, before she finally retired at the age of 70 years old.
Maria loved music, she listened to Tejano, Oldies & Western music. She loved to dance; so much so that she would turn up the music while cooking and make her kids dance with her, in the kitchen. She loved cooking for anyone that would visit her. She had a talent for taking whatever she had in kitchen and turning it into a delicious meal!
Maria loved laughter. She loved to see everyone laughing, she truly didn’t know how funny she was...She made everyone laugh by simply having a normal day to day conversation with them! She had a natural talent of making everyone feel so special.
Maria loved to have fun, whether it was at a holiday party with friends and family or taking her kids to Disneyland when they were young. She was always ready to smile. To pass some time away, she would play the slots, where she became known as “The Lucky Lady” because she somehow managed to always win jackpots!
Maria loved to sew! She proudly made clothes for her children and grandchildren! She was blessed with this talent that she generously shared with everyone. She made her kids; her grandkids and others feel so special by making them personalized blankets.
Maria’s proudest family moments were when she gave birth to her 7 children! She treasured her children, her 25 grandchildren and her 7 great grandchildren beyond measure. She proudly stood beside them, celebrating the good times and she was always there for them in the times of trouble. She truly loved it when she got to spend time with her family; especially during the holidays when everyone would come together!
Maria’s true passion was drawing near to God! She truly enjoyed reading the Word. She continuously prayed for her family daily, specifically by name. She left this world praising and worshipping God and thanking Him for a wonderful life!
