Marlyn Marie Dorough

She was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, on September 7th, 1967. Marlyn graduated from Vernon High School and went on to receive a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Texas at Arlington.

She was married to Mark Dorough on February 14, 2017.

She served as a pre-school teacher in Arlington Independent School District for nineteen years. She was a member of Fielder Church for twenty-five years and had a passion for God’s Word. She is preceded in death by her brothers Franklin (Frankie) Varnell, Charles Varnell, and Mark Varnell.

Marlyn is survived by her husband, Mark Joy Dorough, children: Caitlynn & Christopher Meek, Jarrett & Luisa Dorough and Anthony (Shane) & Jennifer Dorough her grandchildren: Nora & Tessa Meek Mackenzie, Hayden and Conner Dorough, and siblings: Roy Varnell Sr., Terry Varnell, Jerry Varnell, Allen Loomis, Carolyn Varnell, Cathy Taylor, and Coretta Thomas.

A memorial service for Marlyn will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
