

M.D. (Dee) Winters passed away peacefully in Arlington, Tx. April 1, 2017 after a brief illness. Dee Was born July 26, 1924 in Crawford, Tx. to William Albert and Henrietta Winters. He was the next to youngest of 16 children. He spent his youth in South Texas, mostly in San Antonio. He joined the U.S. Marines at 17 yrs. of age during WW II and fought in the Pacific Islands of Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Bougainville, Eniwetok, Kwajalen, Siapan and Guam. Following WW II, he met and married Bette Warren of Grand Prairie, Tx. and was called up with the reserves for the Korean War, which he spent stateside. Upon ending his military career as a Sergeant, he started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. from which he retired after 33 years while living in Grand Prairie, Tx. He and Bette then moved to Lake Texoma until they returned to Arlington in 2006. He loved coaching little league baseball, gardening, boating and spending time with his family.
Dee is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Bette (BJ) Winters, son and daughter-in-law Denny and Ivy Winters and son and daughter-in-law Terry and Phyllis Winters, grandchildren Cory Winters, Collen Winters, Blake Winters, Allie Winters and great grandchildren Nate Winters, Chase Winters, Paityn Winters, Tatum Clark, sister Pauline Leines of Bejou, Mn. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 9 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and the Memorial Service will be Monday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, Arlington, Tx. with interment at DFW National Cemetery to follow.
