

Roy Robert Hayhurst, Sr., 80, of Arlington, entered his Lord and Savior’s presence on Monday, October 24, 2022, after suffering a stroke and valiantly fighting pancreatic cancer. Celebration of life: 9 a.m. Thursday, November 10, at the Moore Funeral Home Bowen Road Chapel, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 9 at the Moore Funeral Home Bowen Road Chapel. Internment: 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
Roy was born October 1, 1942, in Grafton, Ohio. The youngest of three sons, Roy left Ohio to join the U.S. Army in 1959. He served in Army aviation throughout his military service. Duty stations would take him to South Korea, two tours in Vietnam and Alaska, among many locations. After retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1979, he and his family relocated to Arlington in early 1980.
From 1980 until his retirement in 2005, Roy worked for American Eurocopter Corporation (formerly Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation), leading logistics support, ensuring customers’ helicopters had the spare parts and other materials needed to keep flying. Upon his retirement from American Eurocopter, he transitioned to being a full-time “Pawpaw.” He was a devoted Christian and a patriotic American.
Roy was a devoted husband to his wife Mary Ann; they marked 57 years of marriage just two weeks before he passed away. They enjoyed travel around the United States and Israel.
They had two children and four grandchildren. Their lives involved many dance recitals, T-ball, soccer and basketball games as well as Friday night football. Roy and Mary Ann were active members of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas, for the last 16 years, and before that, spent 25 years as members at Fielder Road Baptist Church, in Arlington, Texas, where Roy sang in the choir and drove for the church’s shuttle parking ministry.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Hope Hayhurst, and his brothers, Joe Hayhurst and David Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Hayhurst, his son Roy Hayhurst, Jr. and wife Dondi Jordan Hayhurst, of Arlington, Texas, daughter Cristina Hayhurst Howard and husband Mark Howard, of Boerne, Texas, and four grandchildren, Jordan Robert Hayhurst, Matthew Ryan Hayhurst, Lindsey Elizabeth Howard and Kenneth Boyd Howard.
A visitation for Roy will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A committal service will occur Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
