He was born William Francis Hughes on December 16, 1939 in London Ontario, Canada, a son of Wendell Lochead Hughes and Sara Arwilda Rupp Hughes. William was a trainman and loved to be out on the water. One of his last jobs was being a tugboat captain.
He is survived by two sons, George Wendell Hughes and Francis William Hughes of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Tennessee and Nancy Beel of Arlington, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
